Our grape varieties - Le Bergeron

History

Bergeron is the Savoyard name for Roussane, which originates from the Côtes du Rhône (Montélimar). Its implantation in Savoie is however very old.

Bergeron is rare in Savoie, it currently covers 4% of the vineyard surface.

Cultivation skills and privileged terroir

This grape variety is particularly fond of calcareous and stony soils and therefore particularly likes the slopes of Tormery, which are made up of limestone scree and glacial moraine.

This terroir benefits from a south-western exposure, it is protected from the northern winds and benefits from a lot of sunshine. This microclimate allows this emblematic grape variety of the Rhone Valley to blossom fully and to give exceptional wines combining richness and freshness.

Characteristics of the wines

Bergeron is a dry white wine with a golden color and a strong personality. Remarkable by its aromatic power (yellow fruit, honey, white flowers), it nevertheless keeps a great finesse and a beautiful elegance.

The Chignin Bergeron is a wine for medium aging that can be drunk young or after 5 years in the cellar.
